Time away never felt this good!

You won't want to miss the chance to spend time in the Northwoods of Maine. In the Moosehead Lake region of northern Maine, there is a lake called Wilson Pond. And upon that lake there is a log cabin hidden in the trees. And in that log cabin lies your chance to get away from it all.

Down a private dirt road, away from telephones, televisions and computers, you'll find our cabin. The smell of the Maine woods, the sound of the loons calling out to the float planes flying overhead, the water lapping at the shore, a refreshing morning swim in the lake, more stars than you've seen and if you're lucky, northern lights painting the night sky...

Lots of good hiking, fishing, swimming, canoeing or boating in the area!

The cabin:

Wood, wood everywhere! With two bedrooms and a loft in a screened in porch, our cabin sleeps six in double beds. The main room has a full kitchen, gas-powered refrigerator, stove, sink with water pumped from the lake through a filter.

The main room is also the living/dining room with a new glass-front wood stove. The cabin also has a full bath, with bathtub/shower (gas hot water heater) and toilet. With no electricity, gas lights light the cabin at night. A screened-in porch facing the lake presents a lovely place to breakfast, relax in the evening without bugs, or even put up the hammock for an afternoon nap.

Just on the other side of the porch is a sunny deck. A great spot to take in the sun or watch the lake over dinner. An outdoor fireplace presents barbequeing possibilities and marshmallow roasting for smores. We have a dock and boat/canoe rentals are available in town.

Nearby Greenville is the gateway to Moosehead Lake. All around the area are great hiking possibilities, including hotspots such as the AT, Mount Kineo (an island in Moosehead Lake), Gulf Hagas ("Grand Canyon of the East"), Borestone Mountain (Maine Audubon property), and the end of the AT, Mt Katahdin. If you're not a hiker, there are lots of other possibilities. In Greenville you can rent canoes/boats. You can also catch a float plane ride or take the steamboat, the Katahdin around Moosehead Lake.

There are tons of fishing opportunities, including our lake, Wilson Pond, and many surrounding lakes and streams. Moose-spotting is a common occurance. The swimming is great. You can enjoy a multitude of outdoor activities.
Without venturing away from the cabin or the lake, relaxation comes easy. Bring a good book (or choose one of ours), or play card or other games and you'll remember why it's nice to be on vacation. The cabin comes equipped with dishes, silverware, towels, bedding and furniture.
